The court of appeal has affirmed the removal of Senator George Sekibo, representative of Rivers east senatorial district from office.
The court of appeal on Thursday, August 24, made this affirmation known to the generality of Nigerians, New Telegraph reports.

According to Channels television, the court said the appeal filed by Sekibo lacked merit.
The three-man panel of the court appeal held that the ousted lawmaker only reproduced his closing remarks at the end of the hearing at the tribunal, but did not challenge the decision reached by the tribunal.

The panel was said to have held that according to the law, where an issue is not challenged, the court has no business considering it.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had reported that the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers state urged the PDP to refrain from its attack on the elections petition tribunal.
