A former minister of aviation, Osita Chidoka, has called for preservation of historic monument and values of the Catholic Church.
Chidoka during a service to mark the re-dedication of St Andrew’s Catholic Church, Adazi Nnukwu and the Silver Jubilee of Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Jonas Benson Okoye, said the values of the church must be respected.
Chidoka who is currently aspiring for the governorship seat in Anambra state said the monuments of the church serve for spiritual inspiration and edification and as such must be preserved.

While narrating his one week experience during his service at the Vatican as adviser to Pope Benedict on road safety, Chidoka said he witnessed and valued the fact that the history and monuments of the Church were well preserved.
He said such historical preservation was not just for tourism but also for spiritual enlightenment of the people.
Congratulating the parish priest of the church for his effort, the former minister said his government when elected into power will give priority attention to the physical and spiritual development of the state.
He also said the church and clergymen play critical roles in imparting and upholding values and as such must be given their rightful place in the state.

In his reacting, the clergy commended Chidoka for his interest in St Andrew's Catholic Church.
Bishop Okoye said he was happy that the United Progressive Party governorship candidate understands the importance of Catholic monuments and values.
Other dignitaries at the service included former governor of Anambra State, Chief Peter Obi, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo and Igwe Prof. Augustine Obiekezie. Governor Willie Obiano was represented.
NAIJ.com earlier reported Chidoka received the staff of authority from traditional rulers in the south-east region.

The staff of authority was presented to the former minister by Igwe of Igbo Ukwu, His Royal Highness Idu Martin Ezeh.
The staff, NAIJ.com gathered, was also given to the incumbent governor of Anambra state, Willie Obiano, during the 2013 Anambra governorship election.
