Ahead of the 2019 general elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has rolled out plans to gain massive support for President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration and the party in the south-south zone with a tour of the region.

The party in a statement issued by the Martins Mukoro, the zonal publicity secretary of the APC, stated that during the tour of the region, all aggrieved members in the various state chapters will be reconciled to strengthen the party’s unity ahead of the 2019 elections, Punch reports.
The party disclosed that the tour would begin from the week of September 25 and end on September 30.
The APC said its national vice-chairman south-south zone, Mr Hilliard Eta, will lead the tour across states of the region comprising; Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta and Edo states.
“In furtherance of efforts to re-invigorate the state chapters of the party in the South-South geopolitical zone, the Zonal Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress party led by the National Vice Chairman who doubles as the zonal chairman, Hilliard Eta, will embark on a tour of the South-South states," the party stated.

Meanwhile, the APC is reportedly planning to send a team to former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, to speak with him over his complaints of being dumped by the party after the 2015 general election.
NAIJ.com reports that the move comes as fear grows over reports that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) could successfully woo him back to its fold ahead of 2019 when Nigeria is expected to hold another election.
The Punch reports that rather than plead with him to remain, the APC could apply strong sanctions against Atiku if he is found guilty of making negative statements against it.
