Following the alarm raised by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), over the whereabouts of its leader Nnamdi Kanu, the Police Force HQ has stated that Kanu is not in its custody, The Sun reports.

However, NAIJ.com gathers that in a phone interview, Jimoh Moshood, Public Relations Officer, Nigerian Police Force, stated that the members of the banned group should answer the question of where Kanu is.
While maintaining that the IPOB leader was not in police custody, Moshood stressed that the force would not hesitate to arrest any individual posing as a member of IPOB, as the group has now been proscribed by the south-east governors.
He stated: “He is their leader, they should tell us his whereabout.
“You know the IPOB, has been proscribed by the governors in those states and they remain an unlawful organization and we will ensure that we sustain peace in the area and we will not allow such an organization to disturb the public peace.
“For anybody that has committed an offense, he is liable for arrest and prosecution. But I can tell you that he is not in our custody”.
Moshood further addressed the issue of the Aba police station which was allegedly burnt down by members of the group.
He stated: “We have arrested some of those people who attacked and burnt down the police station at Aba, and they have been charged to court; and anybody that was linked or found to be culpable for the burning of the station which resulted to the death of one of our personnel would be prosecuted.”
The PRO also disclosed that officers had been dispatched all across the country by Ibrahim Idris, Inspector-General of Police (IGP), to prevent reprisal attacks following IPOB’s activities.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that Minister of Interior, General Abdulrahman Dambazau, denied news published on an online media platform in which he was quoted to have claimed that the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra could be killed and nothing would come out of it.
In the said publication, the minister was alleged to have said that killing Nnamdi Kanu would not tear Nigeria apart, citing the deaths of MKO Abiola, the acclaimed winner of June 12 presidential election in 1993; his wife, Kudirat; Ken Sawo-Wiwa, and the imprisonment of Obafemi Awolowo, as prime examples of people who had suffered in the hands of the federal powers.
