- Hurricane Harvey has been battering Texas in the United States of America
- A family was not only hit by the hurricane, their homes were also razed to the ground
- When they returned, they found that their Virgin Mary statue was the only thing that survived
A family in Texas, USA was surprised to find that their Virgin Mary statue was the only thing that survived the Hurricane Harvey and a fire that razed down their three homes.
The fire broke out on Friday night, August 25, 2017, during the thick of the hurricane. It was reportedly caused by an electrical fault.
Jesus Rojas Jr and his extended family had been evacuated to a safer area because of the hurricane, whose gusty winds of up to 210kph were dangerous.

The winds made it difficult for firefighters to put the fire out and it spread from one home to all three.
When the Rojases returned to survey the damage, they found all their houses razed down to ashes. However, the Virgin Mary statue stood intact.

In an interview, Rojas' daughter Natali said: "Some may blame God and some may blame the hurricane, but the only thing standing were holy things. As you can see, this statue is the only thing that survived, I dug in there for things and all I found is a Virgin Mary."
It was indeed a miracle. The family has launched a fundraising appeal on GoFundMe to rebuild their gutted home.
