- The Biafran debate in Nigeria and beyond is still on
- Nigerian novelist, Chimamanda Adichie has refused to be dragged into the debate
- She came out recently to clear the air on some quotes attributed to her
Nigerian novelist, Chimamanda Adichie has debunked quotes attributed to her concerning the Biafran agitation in some news websites.
Writing on her Facebook page on Sunday, September 3, the famed writer stated that she did not say or write the words attributed to her.
“This headline below, and other similar headlines, which appeared on some websites: are false.
“They are completely invented; along with some accompanying quotes which have been attributed to me. I did not say or write those words,” Adichie wrote with an accompanying news website link 'quoting' her.

Adichie has written on the Nigerian-Biafran War in the past, but had never made her stance known on the renewed agitation for a sovereign state of Biafra.
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu are leading the charge for the break away of the Biafran nation at the moment.
Some of the comments were supportive of the novelist, while Biafran supporters suggested that they will move on with their struggle with or without Adichie's support.
Some others think the novelist is confused...
Others claims she is a tool in the hands of higher powers...
But the die-hard supporters of Adichie said they didn't blink an eye lid when they read the reports...
Meanwhile, IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has warned members of the group to desist from giving out money to the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
Kanu also threatened to expel any member of the group who fails to heed his warning, even as he accused the NPF of being a criminal organisation, out to extort members of his group.
