The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Idris said the decision to give a posthumous promotion to Nwosu was informed by the resolve of the force to show the value it attaches to the life and service of police officers.
According to him, the deceased who had yet to be confirmed as an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) before his death, would be duly confirmed.
Idris commended Nwosu’s gallantry and zeal while urging police officers to stand by the truth and do what is glamorous for the country as Nigeria requires men that were committed to service.
He commended Abia government for the measures it had taken to restore law and order during the recent crisis that erupted in the state.
“It is our duty to ensure that the country remains united and stronger. I believe that by the grace of God we will continue to remain united,” Idris said.
On his part, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu emphasised the important role of security and stability in the development of Abia and the nation.
Ikpeazu called on the people of the state to remain law abiding and reaffirmed his readiness to work with the Police to ensure that Abia remained a safe haven for investors.
