- Some officials from the north central have said they support the calls for restructuring of Nigeria
- The officials noted they will throw their full support behind the call only if restructuring will bring true federalism
- The Nasarawa state governor, Tanko Al-Makura, also called for the return to the use of native authorities for all regions
Some officials from Plateau and Nasarawa state have thrown their weight behind the growing call for the restructuring of Nigeria.
The officials on Thursday, September 28, said they would be in total support of restructuring in Nigerian if it would deliver true federalism.
Speaking at the North-central zonal consultative forum organized by the All Progressives Congress (APC) party in Jos, the Nasarawa state governor, Tanko Al-Makura, said the people of the state would oppose any kind of restructuring that would hinder Nigeria's development.

He said is should also be understood that restructuring means different things to different kinds of people.
“Some people are thinking restructuring is creation of local governments and states. If that is what it means, I don’t support it," Al-Makura said
The governor also advised that Nigeria return to the use of native authorities for all regions.
Also speaking, the representative of the Plateau state government, John Wade, said the state in full support of restructuring for Nigeria.

Wade said the gains of restructuring the country are enormous and would possibly address challenges faced by the nation.
Representing Benue state, the legal adviser to All Progressives Congress, Omale Omale, said it was important that there are considerations for restructuring of Nigeria.
Omale said a new Nigerian system would deliver the devolution of power and numerous reforms in the country.

NAIJ.com earlier reported that a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Anyi Iwuanyanwu, said Nigeria may cease to exist if not restructured.
Iwuanyanwu also said the northerners are speaking against restructuring because the the sole benefactors of the current system.
