“The light came on Saturday night and we were so scared because the voltage was very high. Suddenly, the bulbs in the living room started blowing up. Some of electrical fittings in the house were affected,” a resident of Sango in Ogun state, who gave his name simply as Lucky, said.
Idarefama F Martins, a citizen who reacted on social media, mocked the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) with an illustration of what the organisation would say if contacted.
“Please y'all should be patient, don't panic, we're on top of the situation and will rectify it asap. Our engineers are doing their best and will fix it in no time.
“PLEASE NOTE! If after 365 days this problem continues, please contact your nearest PHCN. We will not be held responsible until the completion of the stipulated date. Thank you,” Martins said.
On his part, Dcn Abiodun Adeoye said: "Apparently the electricity failure followed the same pattern all over the country from the reports coming in, I suspect system failure from Oshogbo.
The problem with our electricity sector is the concentration and centralization of the grid transmission system at Oshogbo.

The incident happened just days after NAIJ.com earlier reported that Nigeria’s power, works and housing minister Babatunde Fashola revealed that the country’s power generation rose to 7001 megawatts in September.
The minister said this was coupled with transmission of up to 6,700 megawatts and distribution rising to 4,600 megawatts.
