- The chief whip of the House of Representatives, Alhassan Doguwa, has bashed Senate President, Bukola Saraki, for faulting the military’s proscription of IPOB
- Doguwa stated that Saraki was only stating his personal opinion, in a bid to be seen as being controversial
- He stressed that the senate president cannot cry more than the bereaved, as he noted that the south-east governors had also proscribed the pro-Biafra group
Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has been faulted by the chief whip of the House of Representatives, Alhassan Doguwa, for faulting the military’s declaration of IPOB as a terrorist group, Premium Times reports.
NAIJ.com gathers that Doguwa described Saraki’s statement that the military did not have the authority to proscribe the pro-Biafra group, as a “a mere political statement.”

He stated: “For me, the recent comment made by the Senate President on this matter was a mere political statement that would only portray him as a controversial leader.
“I am sure the senate president was only expressing his personal opinion, which I further believe was not a good one in the given circumstances.”
“The Nigerian Armed forces in my opinion are doing their best professionally and in the best interest of a united Nigeria.”
“Even the South-eastern state governors have declared the activities of Kanu’s IPOB as illegal and therefore proscribed. He (Senate President) can’t cry more than the bereaved.”
Doguwa further stated that Saraki’s statement was unnecessary; especially in light of the attacks meted out by the pro-Biafra group on innocent citizens.

Recall that NAIJ.com previously reported that Senate president, Bukola Saraki, announced that the declaration of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) as a terrorist group by the Nigerian army was unconstitutional.
The senate president also claimed that the southeast governor's proscription of IPOB was unlawful.
