- The coalition said some criminals and terrorists are hiding behind growing agitations in the country
- The coalition also commended the Nigerian military for guarding the nation's democracy since 1999
A coalition of civil society organization has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to address all agitations by terrorists in the country as Nigeria celebrates its independence.
The Coalition of Civil Society Organization for Transparency and Good Governance (CCSOTGG) said it has taken note of increasing agitation for restructuring of Nigeria and has observed that these calls are only canvassed unconstitutionally.
In a communique released by the coalition, CCSOTGG said, the growing agitations are currently heating up the polity and mainly promoted for selfish interests.

The coalition also said that criminals and terrorist hiding behind these demands of self seeking Nigerians to attempt breaking up Nigeria.
"These terrorists, in addition to canvassing their manifestos, are currently attempting to intimidate, blackmail and subdue the military and security agencies including direct attacks on troops.
"The plenary asserted that the agitations by terrorists that are pursuing secessionist agenda must be immediately tackled without sentiments and bias if Nigeria is to celebrate more Independence Anniversaries as a united and prosperous country," the communique signed by Sabo Odeh and Rev Samson Onwu, the chairman and secretary of the coalition said.
The coalition also commended the Nigerian military for its efforts in guardian the nation's democracy.

CCSOTGG said the Nigerian military has defended Nigeria's democracy since 1999 when the country returned to civil rule and deferring to civil authorities which it respects at all times.
It said: "We appeal to the Nigerian military not to relent in going after terrorists that do not want Nigeria to keep existing as a united country.
"Plenary charged all stakeholders in the Nigerian project to always remember that patriotism demands everyone to be forward looking in their approaches. To this end, a committee to evolve a new narrative of greatness for Nigeria's 100 years of independence was constituted and terms of reference given for all Nigerians to work together as one family in love and unity for the good of our country," the communique added.

NAIJ.com earlier reported that the Nigeria National Summit Group (NNSG) had urged President Buhari to restructure Nigeria on time.
The group said it is such a pity that the National Assembly pretends that Nigerians are bound together in a non-negotiable unity.
NNSG said the growing agitations in the country is a clear indication that the county and its populace must stops sticking their heads in the sand.
