A lot of Nigerian universities offer Surveying and Geo-Informatics under the Faculty of Engineering, Environment and Technology.
Most of the universities are however state or federal owned.
NAIJ.com checks revealed that many private schools are not well grounded in geoinformatics, except Bells University of Technology (BELLS) and Gregory University, Uturu (GUU).

Bells University of Technology is a private university established by the Bells Educational Foundation. It was granted an operational license by the federal government on 9 June, 2005. .
It is Nigeria's foremost private university of technology and indeed one of Nigeria's great success stories in the education sector. The school is located in Ota, Ogun state.
On its part, Gregory University is noted for the high quality of its academic and research programme as well as its professionals, practical and entrepreneurial capacity development.
The school's classroom lectures are delivered using e-learning technologies and they have exchange programme with American universities. The school is located in Uturu, Abia state.
