A group of Anambra state elders under the aegis of 'Concerned Anambra State Leaders' have written an open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari alleging plans by his party - the All Progressives Congress (APC) to compromise the outcome of the state's election.
The letter seen by NAIJ.com correspondent in Anambra state, alleged that there are plans by some APC stalwarts both at the state, zonal and federal levels to rig the forthcoming election in favour of the party.
The group also indicted several security agencies, accusing them of working with the APC to rig the elections.

“Information at our disposal show that the group has perfected plans to use the security agencies like the police, DSS, army and civil defence to submit double results sheets in place of the original and authentic result sheets collated from the polling booths at the ward levels to the INEC, which in turn will accept them, and discredit the duly certified copies from their officers in the field,” the letter stated.
The group alleged that INEC has been “directed from above to comply with this evil plan of APC, and to work in cahoots with security agencies in actualising this evil plot.”
The leaders reminded President Buhari of his vow to ensure a free and fair election in the state.
“The negative implication of this evil plan is that it will not only dent your integrity, but has the potential to lead to bloodbath and wanton destruction of lives and properties,” they warned.
The letter which was signed by the leader of the group, Chief Akunwafor Ezeobi Nwafor had Senate President, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chief Justice of Nigeria and INEC chairman in copy.
Meanwhile, the police has doled out a detailed security plan ahead of the November 18 governorship election in Anambra state.
In an email sent to NAIJ.com, the NPF said three commissioners of police are to be in charge of each senatorial district, to coordinate the security operations in the state throughout the electioneering period.
The Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of department of operations of the force is the overall head of the security team and will be assisted by an Assistant Inspector General of Police to supervise the deployment of security personnel for the elections throughout the state.
To ensure adequate security and safety of lives and properties before, during and after the elections, an additional 26,000 police personnel have been deployed for the election by the police headquarters.
Three police aerial/surveillance helicopters, 10 gun boats, 15 Armoured Personnel Carriers and 303 police patrol vehicles have also been deployed for the operations to cover the entire state including the riverine areas and difficult terrains.
