- President Muhammadu Buhari has cautioned Nigerians against instigating another civil war
- Buhari enjoined all Nigerians to work together towards preserving Nigeria's unity
- He also said it is worthwhile for Nigeria to honour the memory of its lost heroes
President Muhammadu Buhari has admonished all Nigerians to ensure the country does not witness another civil war by their actions or inaction on event happening in Nigeria.
The president said such step would help in preserving the unity of Nigerian considering the sort of human capital loss experienced during the past civil war.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration 2018 emblem and appeal fund at the council chambers, Buhari said, it is worth while for Nigeria to honour the memory of its lost heroes.

“The resolve by our countrymen and women to remain in one indivisible and indissoluble nation, Nigeria is at the centre of this celebration.
“Indeed, the Remembrance Day Celebration is being marked on the 15th of January instead of 11th of November as in other Commonwealth nations to commemorate the end of the Nigerian civil war – a war that was fought to keep Nigeria one.
“We must, therefore, cast our minds back at the events that led to the civil war, the immense human capital loss of the tragic war, and resolve that never again shall we allow our dear nation by our actions or inactions to experience another war," President Buhari said.

The president commending the Nigerian military and its men for their courage ad sacrifices for Nigeria said his administration will continue to do all within its power to ensure their welfare is catered for.
He said he looks forward to a time in Nigeria when business concerns would give special recognition and consideration for the distinguished citizens and support the veterans.
He said: “As a government, we desire to improve the capability of our Armed Forces. I am glad that our efforts are yielding positive results already in boosting the morale of men and women of the Armed Forces.
“We will continue to engage them in training and retraining to improve their capacity to discharge their constitutional roles," Buhari said.
He further called on all Nigerians at home and in Diaspora and friends of Nigeria to generously donate to the cause of Nigerian legion and the families of the fallen heroes.

The president also officially launched the Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration 2018 emblem with N10 million.
NAIJ.com earlier reported that President Buhari swore in the new secretary to the government of the federation, Boss Mustapha.
The swearing in of the new SGF also took place inside the Council Chambers at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Mustapha was appointed by Buhari to take over from the former SGF, Babachir Lawal, who appointment was terminated on Monday, October 30, after a panel led by the vice president, Yemi Osinbajo found him guilty of various allegations against him.
Lawal was sacked alongside the former director general of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ayo Oke.
