Ghanaian football has been hit with a severe blow following the untimely death of former international Yakubu Abubakar who died on Tuesday night, October 31, 2017.
The former Black star who was a defensive midfielder during his playing days was said to have died after an undisclosed illness.
What masterminded his demise is still unknown, and the Ghanaian FA have expressed shock hearing the death of Yakubu who died aged 36.

"We're sad to hear the death of former Ghana, Ajax and Vitesse midfielder Abubakar. Our thoughts are with his family. May his soul RIP." Ghanaian FA stated in a statement.
Abubakar was part of the Black Stars' squad that played at the 2006 African Cup of Nations, and made 16 appearances at senior level.
He failed to make the final list of the Ghanaian squad that campaigned at the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany.

The deceased also enjoyed a good career in Holland after leaving Africa as a 17-year-old to join Ajax.
And during his stay in Amsterdam, he won two Eredivisie titles in 2002 and 2004, and also played in the Champions League with the Dutch club.
