- A member of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Jackson Lekan Ojo, says he will campaign for Atiku Abubakar ahead of 2019
- Chief Ojo describes Atiku as the only person that can effectively defeat President Muhammadu Buhari in the election
- He says those castigating the former vice president for dumping the APC do not understand politics in Nigeria
Former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, remains the best person that can help the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) defeat Muhammadu Buhari in 2019, Chief Jackson Lekan Ojo, the national coordinator of Yoruba Youth Alliance (YYA), has declared.
Daily Trust reports that Chief Ojo, who is also a security expert, spoke in Abuja, declaring his support for Atiku and saying he would campaign for the former vice president.

“It will be the best bet for PDP if Atiku wins the presidential ticket of the party because there is no better political tactician or strategist in the PDP than Atiku,” Ojo, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), reportedly said.
According to him, Atiku has the capacity to create wealth and this would endear Nigerians to him instead of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Claiming that those currently castigating Atiku for dumping APC did not understand Nigerian politics, he said: “There is no power of incumbency in Nigeria now. Jonathan was incumbent, yet he was defeated by Buhari whom Nigerians trusted he would offer them a better deal but he has failed.
“He has only succeeded in creating poverty. In so many African countries, incumbent presidents have been defeated so everybody should know that Nigerian voters are wiser now and they don’t believe in the power of incumbency.

“They would be voting for candidates and not political parties, so the issue of which party Atiku belongs to does not arise.”
NAIJ.com earlier reported that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) recently stopped Atiku Abubakar, a former vice president, who just returned to its fold, from displaying posters during its forthcoming national convention.
Also barred, according to Daily Trust, are former governor of Jigawa state, Sule Lamido, his former Kano state counterpart, Ibrahim Shekarau, and Ayo Fayose of Ekiti state.
