Samuel Umtiti has emerged has one of the finest centre backs in the whole of Europe since joining Barcelona in the summer of 2016, but Barcelona are now scared they might lose him.
The French international has attracted interest from some of Europe's biggest spenders in Manchester United and Manchester City.
His form has been so good it’s unthinkable that they would let him go but his very low transfer clause could leave them with no choice.

If a Premier League club meet the £54 million release clause and the player wants to go, they would not be able to stop him.

And it now shows that big clubs are willing to spend huge fees usually reserved for attackers on top centre-backs and full-backs.

City are in the market for a new centre-back after being linked with Van Dijk as well as Jonny Evans and Inigo Martinez.
United too have struggled keeping some of their top defenders fir and might be in the market for a center back especially with the long term injury of Eric Bailly.
