The World Para Powerlifting Championships might just be two days old but that has not stopped the Nigerian delegate, Alice Oluwafemiayo, from putting Nigeria on the world map.
Oluwafemiayo provoked excitment and emotions as she broke the women's up to 86kg world record in the 2017 Para Powerlifting Championships in Mexico, while Mexican Jose de Jesus Castillo Castillo won a thrilling gold in front home crowd in the men's up to 107kg.

Oluwafemiayo won after clearing the bar at 140kg before lifting 145kg in her fourth attempt to break the world record of 144kg fellow Nigerian Loveline Obiji had set back in 2014.
While reacting to her victory, Oluwafemiayo said:“I feel very happy, it was not something I was expecting,”
