NAIJ.com gathers that Imagwe stated that even though the president had a right to re-contest under the constitution, he should consider his health and national interest.
He also urged the president to conduct free, fair and credible elections in 2019.
He said: “I think it is the best thing for President Buhari to follow the path of honour and quit the temptation to re-contest. He should not succumb to the suffocating pressure from the APC governors to declare his interest to re-contest.
“Those urging the president to contest the 2019 election are beclouded by their self-seeking agenda.”
Imagwe also called on the president to ensure the safe return of the abducted Dapchi schoolgirls, and commiserated with their parents.
He expressed regret that the Dapchi episode occurred after Goodluck Jonathan had been labeled as a weak president over the Chibok girls abduction.
