- Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is reportedly investigating spendings by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC
- EFCC officials are said to have stormed the national secretariat of the party and headed straight to the office of its chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun
- Oyegun is, however, endorsed by lawmakers from the Adamawa state House of Assembly
It is believed that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is now focusing its searchlight on how the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) led by Chief John Odigie-Oyegun has been spending party funds, according to a report by The Guardian.
The report said the action of the anti-graft agency comes almost less than four days to the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the ruling party and follows a strongly worded letter Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, a national leader who accused Odigie-Oyegun of frustrating his efforts at reconciling aggrieved members of the party.
According to the report, the EFCC may have taken its action prompted by members of the Buhari/APC anti-corruption support group led by one Ishola Adeshina, who visited the anti-corruption agency and called for a probe of the NWC.

It quoted sources as revealing that officials of the anti-graft agency stormed the party’s secretariat at about 12pm on Thursday, February 22, in a black SUV and headed straight to the office of the national chairman.
The report said the national publicity secretary of the APC, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, could not be reached for comments
Nevertheless, Odigie-Oyegun reportedly received the endorsement of members of the Adamawa state House of Assembly at the national secretariat of the party.
Speaker Kabiru Mijinyawa, who led the lawmakers, said: “We have to commend your style of leadership. When the President was inaugurated, he said that we were going to face some challenges, turbulences and encumbrances in the government and the party is not excluded.

“For the past three years, we have seen how you have handled the party at national, state, local government and ward levels.
“With all these turbulences and encumbrances, we are still the great party that we are.”
Earlier, NAIJ.com had reported that the national leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, accused the national chairman of the party, John Odigie-Oyegun, of sabotaging efforts to reconcile aggrieved party members.
According to The Cable, Tinubu in a letter dated Wednesday, February 21, accused Oyegun of violating the agreement both of them had at the party secretariat when President Muhammadu Buhari gave him the assignment of reconciling aggrieved party members.
