Former president Goodluck Jonathan on Monday, February 26, congratulated an ex-president Shehu Shagari as he clocked 93 years.
Jonathan in his felicitation wished Shagari more years ahead in good health and sound mind. He described Shagari as a formidable patriot and an exemplary statesman.

In a statement released by his spokesperson, Ikechukwu Eze, Jonathan said Shagari's conduct while in and out of office is worthy of emulation.
He said: “I write, on behalf of my family, to express very warm greetings to you on the occasion of your 93rd birthday.
“I am glad the grace of Almighty Allah which led you to set standards in selfless service has kept you healthy in old age. You are an exemplary leader and elder statesman whose humility, patriotism, peaceful disposition and vision for a great nation will continue to inspire Nigerians across generations.
“I wish you more years in good health and sound mind for you to continue to do good for humanity."
NAIJ.com earlier reported that a former national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ahmadu Ali revealed how Jonathan emerged as running mate to late president Umaru Yar'Adua.

Ali said the decision was made by the party stalwarts after the the PDP's national convention in 2016.
He said Jonathan had preferred to remain as governor of Bayelsa state but they were able to convince him to change his mind.
