- Lai Mohammed, Nigeria's minister of Information and Culture, had on Sunday, February 25, in Damaturu claimed that 110 schoolgirls out of 906 student population were missing
The number of kidnapped Dapchi school girls released by the federal government has been disputed that by some of the parents of the girls.
Suspected Boko Haram gunmen had sometime last week attacked the community and abducted several students from Government Girls Technical College.
The minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, on Sunday, February 25, in Damaturu confirmed that 110 schoolgirls out of 906 student population were missing.
The minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, announced the figure after a meeting between a Federal Government Delegation and representatives of key stakeholders, in Damaturuon Sunday.

A statement issued on the meeting listed the key stakeholders to include state government, the college, the parents, security agencies and Bursari local government officials, where Dapchi is situated..
“There was no doubt that the insurgents were in Dapchi and as at today, we cannot account for 110 girls”, said the information minister.
“Because the total register of the students that came to school that day was 906 but as at today, about 110 of them cannot be accounted for and that is the situation.”
The minister's claim was, however, disputed some parents of the kidnapped students. They also denied knowledge of the minister’s visit as well as the figures he quoted.
Chairman of the parents' forum, Bashir Manzo, said he was not aware of the meeting in Damaturu. He also denied knowledge of the new figure announced by the minister in Damaturu, Premium Times reports.
“I am not aware of the meeting in Damaturu
“No one informed us here in Dapchi that a meeting would hold. And as far as our record here is concerned, we still have 105, but if they have additional names to what we had first established, fine and good. We are happy no one is saying the figure is less than what we’ve had,” he said.
