President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated the CHAN Eagles for their hard fought 1-0 victory over Sudan that secured a place in the finals against host Morocco.
The president who followed the progress of the Eagles closely joined millions of football loving Nigerians in celebrating the dogged performance of the team which qualified them for the final of the competition.
President Buhari congratulates Super Eagles for defeating Sudan
Special adviser to the president on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, took to his official Facebook page to share the president's felicitations with Nigerians.
Adesina issued a statement which reads: " President Muhammadu Buhari congratulates the home-based Super Eagles of Nigeria on their victory over Sudan in the semi-final of the 2018 Championship of African Nations (CHAN) in Marrakesh, Morocco."

" President Buhari joins millions of football loving Nigerians in celebrating the dogged performance of the team which qualified them for the final on Sunday with Morocco.

NAIJ.com previously reported that The Super Eagles team B have qualified for the final of the 2018 CHAN championship going on in Morocco after beating Sudan 1-0 in their semi final game played on Wednesday night, January 31.

Nigeria started the match impressive with the duo of Kano Pillars' star Rabiu Ali and Ekundayo Ojo in their best form in the midfield.
Super Eagles eventually got their goal in the 16th minute when Rabiu Ali and Anthony Okpotu combined well to set up Gabriel Okechukwu who wasted no time to score.
