An American couple is struggling to come to terms following the death of their 18-day infant.
According to the couple identified as Nicole and Shane Sifrit, they lost their newborn baby, Mariana, earlier in the week, following 11 agonizing days at a health facility watching the newborn child's organs shut one by one.

The infant is said to have succumbed to herpes, after she was kissed by the couple's friend.

Mariana's parents had quite recently traded marriage vows with their six-day-old little girl in attendance.

However, about two hours later into the ceremony, the Sifrits established that the tot had quit gobbling and was hellbent to wake up.

In their wedding apparels, the newlyweds rushed the kid to a nearby hospital, where the medics broke the devastating news: Mariana was battling a herpes virus - likely transmitted by an adult.
About ten days into the mortifying diagnosis, Mariana remained bedridden, as the virus exterminated her budding life.
Mariana's family shared the heartbreaking news on Social Media, warning other parents against letting their infants 'too close' with their newborns.
