A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe has advised those who are not financially buoyant to stay away from politics.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, he said politics is not for the poor.
According to him, one has to have a lot of money to be able to play any significant role and be recognized in Nigeria’s political sphere.

Ogunlewe said: “That is politics – politics is not a game to be played by the poor. A poor person has no role in politics. A poor man cannot win election in Nigeria, how will you campaign. If you are poor stay in your house."
On the candidate of his choice for the national chairmanship position, he said: "I am supporting Chief Olabode George. He sacrificed himself for the development of the party.
“He had the opportunity of being the minister, he gave it to me and he has given it to six of us in Lagos State alone.
“He had the opportunity of being an ambassador, he refused. He wanted to be a gubernatorial aspirant, he refused. So he has sacrificed for the development of the party and he has served at the headquarters of the party for 10 years.”

There appears to be cracks in the PDP ahead of its make or break national convention scheduled for December 9, as many are jostling for the position of national chairman.
One of those aspiring to be national chairman is Chief Bode George.
There are indications that former president Goodluck Jonathan and Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State are at loggerheads over the Prince Uche Secondus’ bid to become the national chairman of the PDP.
