- The force stated that in 40 years of its formation, SARS had achieved landmark successes in arresting violent criminals and reducing the nations’ crime rate
- The force urged Nigerians to report any erring officers instead; and gave out a number for citizens to lodge complaints
The Nigerian Police Force has responded to recent calls by various citizens, to scrap the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS).
In a series of tweets via its official Twitter handle, @PoliceNG, the force pointed out that SARS was saddled with the responsibility of tacking robberies and other criminal activities in the country.

NAIJ.com notes that the force highlighted the fact that SARS has recorded tremendous success since its formation 40 years ago, and called on Nigerians to report any misbehaving officials instead of calling for the squad to be scrapped.

Recall that NAIJ.com previously reported that the move to get the Nigeria Police Force to scrap the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) over allegations of harassment suffered a massive setback.
The Police said that it saw no reason to disband the unit because it was doing quite well in its given duties across the nation.
