Alhaji Ahmed Shuaib Gara-Gombe who is a former adviser to Senator Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has told him to leave the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Former vice president, Atiku Abubakar had resigned from the APC and announced his return to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Sunday, November 3 and Gara-Gombe advised the former Kano state governor not to leave the APC for the PDP.

The former adviser said that in the build-up to the 2015 Presidential election, the power blocs tilted towards Kwankwanso which made him one of the leaders of the APC.
He said the same would not happen if leaves the APC to the PDP.
Gara-Gombe said the fact that Kwankwaso defeated Atiku in the APC primary election in 2015 would mean he would do same in the PDP if he contests with him.

He said: “Since Kwankwaso has age on his side, I’ll advise him to work with President Muhammadu Buhari till 2023 because by the time Buhari serves his second term, Kwankwaso would be the biggest political icon in the North and he can take off from there.”
He said those asking Kwankwaso to leave the APC are not putting his interest at heart but their own.
Meanwhile, Dr Paul Unongo who is the chairman of the Northern Elders Forum (NEF) said that the north is undivided in its choice between President Buhari and Atiku.
In an interview with The Sun, the NEF chairman said the north has decided to stick with President Buhari because he was a tried and tested leader unlike Atiku who he described as being desperate to be president.
