- Abe has not hidden his desire to emerge as the governorship candidate of the party in Rivers state
Amidst the internal wrangling in the Rivers state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Magnus Abe has warned his loyalists to stop attacking leaders of the party in the state.
The senator who represents Rivers Southeast senatorial district in the Senate, also reiterated his earlier promise not to abandon the APC ahead of the 2019 general elections.
He stated that the APC was formidable enough to be victorious in 2019, adding that he will never abandon the party for whatever reasons.
The senator made the comments in Port Harcourt on Monday, February 26, during a one-day dialogue organised by a network of youths and student leaders in the state.
He urged his supporters to respect all the party leaders including the minister of transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, and not to attack them on the social media, noting that APC is one and will remain indivisible.

He also urged executives of the party to call a meeting of the factions for a meeting in order to give members of the party the opportunity to express their feelings on some pressing issues.
Senator Abe has been having running battle with Amaechi since he declared to contest for the APC governorship ticket ahead of the 2019 elections.
Meanwhile, Amaechi has insisted that he won’t support the governorship bid of Senator Abe in the 2019 elections.
The minister made his comments during a meeting with the Ikwerre Chiefs and Elders’ Forum (IACEF) on Saturday, February 10.
His words: “There is no fight in the APC. I am not in any way stopping Abe from running for the governorship (position), but what I know is that I will not support him.
“Abe is daring me; an Ikwerre son. He is abusing me every day. I will ensure I use Ikwerre votes on him.”
