Miriam Jefferson, of Texas, and Kalavati Mistry, of Leicester, sealed their marriage on Saturday, August 12, 20 years after first meeting and falling in love.
In an interview, 48-year-old Kalavati said she had the more difficult time convincing her deeply traditional family about her orientation.

She said she kept it secret for decades and only came out several years ago. Her family finally accepted it and proudly attended her wedding.
The two have now jetted off to San Antonio, Texas, where they also had a Jewish wedding ceremony earlier this year, to spend the rest of their lives together.
